BWH Hotels unveiled its foray into glamping during its annual convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking a major step into the growing outdoor hospitality market. The announcement introduced the Explorer Series, a new addition to the company’s Premier Collection, offering luxurious accommodations in premier wilderness locations.
The Wildflower Zion Resort, the first property in the series when it reopens in March, will offer a mix of tents and covered wagons. Some units will include private bathrooms, while others will provide access to shared facilities, similar to traditional campsites. All accommodations will be equipped with Wi-Fi and electricity.
Future Explorer Series properties are planned for Montana and northern Utah, LeBlanc shared. Following the announcement, President and CEO Larry Cuculic said that within hours, “multiple leads” had already reached out to explore opportunities.
As travel trends become increasingly experiential, noted Brad LeBlanc, senior vice president and chief development officer, the glamping addition will help BWH stay competitive with major brands like Hilton and Hyatt.
Earlier this year, Hotel Management Magazine reported that Hyatt partnered with Under Canvas to offer glamping at 13 U.S. locations, including the new ULUM Moab resort.
This collaboration allows World of Hyatt members to access luxury camping experiences at national parks and other popular outdoor destinations. Hyatt’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Vondrasek, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the growing demand for unique, nature-focused travel experiences.
This move follows a trend in the hospitality industry, with Hilton’s recent partnership with AutoCamp and Six Flags Great Adventure Resort‘s announcement of a new glamping resort, highlighting the increasing popularity of luxury outdoor accommodations.
According to Hotel Management Magazine, the conference showcased BWH Hotels’ approach to growth and innovation in the hospitality industry.
The company’s expansion into glamping, strengthening of its extended-stay offerings, and simplification of its loyalty program demonstrate BWH Hotels’ efforts to adapt to evolving traveler preferences and industry trends.
