The Sojourner Truth State Park (New York) grand opening is set for April 23, Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Community Earth Day Celebration.
The park’s activities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with park officials from the state and elected officials. Additionally, there will be educational activities highlighting Earth Day and the importance of all people playing a part in protecting the planet, along with guided hikes and live music shows.
New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Scenic Hudson, and the Palisades International Park Commission will work together for future developments at Sojourner Truth State Park. Scenic Hudson will operate the park under a five-year arrangement.
It’s the first state park located in Kingston and the Town of Ulster. It’s also the first state park to be opened since July 2019.
