Singing Waters Park in Greig, New York, reopened on September 11, following six years of planning and construction. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of various improvements.
County officials, including Lewis County Manager Ryan Piche, expressed optimism that the park would enhance its recreational offerings and complement its ATV trail system. With a $450,000 investment driven by public feedback, the park’s improvements are intended to cater to the region’s tourism demand.
The park underwent upgrades, such as a modernized bathhouse, pavilion, camping facilities, hiking trails, and walking bridges. The enhanced infrastructure also includes a new septic system and wells, supporting day-use visitors and campers.
Piche noted, “Folks can come here, stay, have a nice place that’s affordable, and then hop on their ATVs and enjoy the rest of the county.”
Singing Waters Park has long been a destination for the public, with a 92-year history of recreational use. Acquired by the county in 1932, the park was initially developed in the 1950s with 10 tent sites and a basic wooden bathhouse.
According to an article published by Daily Sentinel, Legislative Chairman Larry Dolhof highlighted the park’s rich history, noting that it has been a hub for hunting and fishing. “We’re very excited to have this park open, and we will be offering day use, overnight use, and accommodations for those who wish to enjoy the recreational opportunities that the county has,” Dolhof explained.
Singing Waters Park’s approach underscores the importance of enhancing outdoor offerings by providing updated facilities that meet the needs of modern visitors. With improvements such as upgraded camping sites, walking bridges, and a modernized bathhouse, campground operators and RV park owners can attract a wider range of outdoor enthusiasts and encourage repeat visits.
