Shady Oaks Camping Resort, a new vintage-inspired campground located in New York’s Champlain Valley, officially opened after more than nine months of development.
“Shady Oaks Camping Resort is officially open for business! After 9+ months of hard work, it was great to pause this weekend to celebrate the progress we’ve made. Big thanks to all those who made time to celebrate with us,” the campground said in a Facebook post.
The resort, positioned as a northern gateway to the Adirondacks, offers a range of modern amenities while preserving a classic campground atmosphere.
Located near Plattsburgh, the campground is designed to provide guests with both natural serenity and community-oriented experiences.
“Having so many campers on site this weekend made Shady Oaks feel alive in a whole new way,” the campground adds.
According to its website, guests at Shady Oaks have access to a variety of amenities, including a camp store, public gathering areas known as the “Great Room,” updated shower and bathroom facilities, and 24-hour laundry services.
The campground also features several communal fire pits, horseshoe pits, and cornhole sets to encourage guest interaction and recreation.
Shady Oaks offers both seasonal and short-term camping options. Visitors can choose from traditional tent camping or full hook-up RV sites with 30- and 50-amp connections.
The campground is also preparing to launch unique rental options including “The Franklin,” a retro camper; “The Micro Minnie,” a modern camper; and a geo-dome glamping tent.
The resort’s proximity to tourist attractions enhances its appeal. Nearby destinations include Lake Champlain, Plattsburgh City Beach, and the Ausable Chasm.
Visitors can also explore the Plattsburgh State Art Museum and the quieter Chazy Lake, ideal for kayaking and fishing.
With its emphasis on community and inclusivity, Shady Oaks is positioned to attract a mix of outdoor enthusiasts, families, and RV travelers.
