Conesus Lake Campground, a picturesque family-owned vacation spot in New York’s esteemed Finger Lakes region, clinched fourth on the list.
With over six decades of catering to the nature lovers’ community, Conesus Lake Campground enjoys a heritage enriched by its founders, Edward and Mildred Yaniszewski, and continued by their grandson Don Bennett, Jr.
Nestled on the eastern shoreline of Conesus Lake, the campground is an integral part of the distinctive Finger Lakes region, known for its stunning natural beauty and 11 uniquely captivating waterbodies.
The campground features 150 campsites and six rentals comprising cabins, cottages, and lodges.
Campers are treated to breathtaking views over Conesus Lake from the hillside location, an awe-inspiring spectacle punctuated by mesmerizing sunsets.
Co-owner Lisa Bennett expressed her delight at the recognition, while simultaneously acknowledging the inherent splendor of their location. She remarked, “When I heard, I was just like, ‘Wow!’ But we’ve always been proud to be located on Conesus Lake, and we’re now in our 61st year here. We have really nice lake access, and we’ve spent the past few years focusing on improving our lakefront area for people to enjoy.”
Guests are similarly enamored by the lakefront area. Lisa continued, “Everyone that comes here always says how nice the lakefront area is. We have boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards for rent, and we even have a special kayak launch mechanism. And families can fish off the docks if they want, which is a plus because there’s not a lot of places for public fishing access without a boat.”
One of the stand-out attractions for campers is the annual Ring of Fire celebration held on July 3rd.
This visually awe-inspiring event sees lakeside residents illuminate the entire shoreline with flares precisely at 10:00 pm, punctuated by multiple fireworks displays, offering campers an unforgettable spectacle.
The campground also serves as an ideal base for guests eager to explore the wider Finger Lakes area, known for its plethora of wineries, remarkable gorges, and cascading waterfalls.
