Whispering Pines Campsites & RV Park in Greenfield Center, New York, will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a public event on June 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., commemorating three decades in business and honoring the legacy of co-founder Scott Foro, who died last August following an eight-month battle with cancer.
The milestone is significant for the Foro family, who have operated the 112-site campground for years.
According to a press release, Kimberly Foro, who now oversees operations, said the event is not only about marking the park’s longevity but also about recognizing her late husband’s role in building it.
“Not only is this a milestone celebration, it’s also a poignant one,” she said. “It is also to honor my husband’s legacy.”
Scott Foro is credited with transforming the campground from a 70-site property into a full-service destination.
Now, their son Jared Foro is helping continue the family business.
“My father’s hard work and vision took it from a run down 70-site campground to a thriving 112-site full-service campground,” he said.
“We have big shoes to fill, but we are doing our best to make him proud,” he added.
To mark the occasion, the event will feature complimentary activities for guests and local residents.
The celebration will include a free hot dog roast, birthday cake with coffee, guided tours of the property, and a chance to win a free weekend of camping.
As part of the festivities, Whispering Pines is also offering a nostalgic pricing promotion. Campsite rates will temporarily return to their 1996 prices for the day, providing an added incentive for both loyal visitors and newcomers to participate.
The park’s leadership has continued to invest in upgrades in recent months.
“We have already made some significant improvements,” Kimberly Foro noted, pointing to the installation of a new office computer system and renovations to the campground’s store.
In addition to physical improvements, the campground is modernizing its digital infrastructure. A new live reservation website is currently in development to streamline booking and enhance the guest experience.
