The New Jersey Campground Owners & Outdoor Lodging Association (NJCOA) has announced the winners of its marketing awards during the association’s annual Fall Tour and General Membership Meeting.
According to a release, NJCOA granted awards to members in a variety of categories such as Best Website, Best Event, Most Creative Activity, and Best Camping Photo.
NJCOA Executive Director Joann DelVescio shared that the association wants to recognize campgrounds that work hard to develop a cohesive and up-to-date marketing campaign, noting those who think outside of the box to provide fun events and activities for their campers.
“We took nominations during July and August to give campgrounds time to submit for the September meeting,” DelVescio shared.
She also said that the committee sorted through the entries and chose the winners for four of the categories.
Wading Pines Camping Resort (Shore Region) won an award for the Best Website. “The updated website is visually pleasing and easy to maneuver. The photos and content are up to date,” according to the release.
Another winning entry was Benji’s Birthday Party of Kymer’s Camping Resort (Skyland Region) that took home the Best Event award. Benji is the camping resort’s mascot. During the event, they celebrated his birthday with a variety of fun activities and birthday cake.
The award for Most Creative Activity was presented to Sleepy Hollow Family Campground (Greater Atlantic City Region) for its Hungry Hippos on the Lake activity.
Lastly, Little Oaks Campground (Southern Shore Region) won the Best Camping Photo. The photo was captured at the time where owner Judy LaPorta was closing the pool on Labor Day—a day her campers always groan about.
“LaPorta was waiting to hear the gripes when she noticed they were all looking to the sky and pointing. She looked up and saw a banner saying, ‘We love Little Oaks + Miss Judy’. LaPorta said at that moment she realized this is what it is about, making people feel at home and being apart of their best memories,” the release read.
An election of officers and board members also took place during the Fall Tour. Reelected officers include Anita Pfefferkorn (Indian Rock RV Resort) as President, Justin Crane (Hospitality Creek Campground) as Vice President, Clayton Taylor (Camp Taylor Campground) as Treasurer, and Lisa Torella (The Great Divide Campground) as Secretary.
Re-elected board members comprise Matt Benn (Sea Pirate Campground), Karen Kymer (Kymer’s Camping Resort), and Randy Prisckett (Sleepy Hollow Campground). They join board members Scott Turner (Ocean View Camping Resort), Jace Kandle (Lake Kandle Campground), as well as Judy LaPorta (Little Oaks Campground), and Dave Benn (Pomona RV Resort).
