NJCOA Holds Annual Meeting, Presents Awards

Member parks of the New Jersey Campground Owners & Outdoor Lodging Association (NJCOA) were recognized during the association’s recent annual Fall Tour and General Membership Meeting held in the shore region of the state.

Executive Director Joann DelVescio in a press release commented that NJCOA acknowledges campgrounds that strive to develop a cohesive and up-to-date marketing campaign, and who think outside of the box to provide fun events and activities for campers.

She said the association took nominations from July until August to give campgrounds enough time before the September meeting. She also added that the committee sorted through the entries and chose the winners for four of the categories including Best Website, Best Event, Most Creative Activity/Event, and Best Brochure.

Spacious Skies Country Oaks in the Greater Atlantic City region bagged the Best Website award, while Sleepy Hollow Family Campground’s Murder Mystery event won Best Event.

In the Skylands region, The Great Divide Campground’s Cardboard Boats in Pool idea was recognized as the Most Creative Event/Activity. For Best Brochure, Kymer’s Camping Resort has been recognized by NJCOA.

Also during the annual meeting, attendees visited nine campgrounds and were welcomed at lunch by Lori Pepenella, president of the New Jersey Travel Industry Association and the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce.

An election of officers and board members was also held during the Fall Tour.

Reelected for another term are Anita Pfefferkorn (Indian Rock RV Resort) as president, Justin Crane (Hospitality Creek Campground) as vice president, Clayton Taylor (Camp Taylor Campground) as treasurer, and Lisa Torella (The Great Divide Campground) as secretary.

Meanwhile, Dave Benn of Pomona RV Resort, Anita Pfefferkorn of Indian Rock RV Resort, and Clayton Taylor of Camp Taylor Campground have been re-elected as board members of the New Jersey Campground Owners & Outdoor Lodging Association.

They join board members Scott Turner (Ocean View Camping Resort), Jace Kandle (Lake Kandle Campground), Judy LaPorta (Little Oaks Campground), Matt Benn (Sea Pirate Campground), Karen Kymer (Kymer’s Camping Resort), Randy Prisckett (Sleepy Hollow Campground), Lisa Torella (The Great Divide Campground), and Justin Crane (South Jersey Jellystone).
