Kia Unveiled New Electric Adventure Van Concept at SEMA 2024: The PV5 WKNDR

At the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Kia America unveiled the PV5 WKNDR Concept, a revolutionary electric van that reimagines the future of adventure vehicles. The concept, developed by Kia Design Center America (KDCA), represents a significant step forward in sustainable vehicle design, primarily intended for small business and delivery uses but repurposed for lifestyle and adventure purposes.

Built on Kia’s Purpose Beyond Vehicle (PBV) platform, the PV5 WKNDR demonstrates versatility through its modular design, as reported on DailyRevs. The van features adaptable interior modules that allow users to transform the vehicle’s configuration based on their specific needs, functioning much like a Swiss Army knife on wheels. The vehicle also incorporates solar panels and turbine technology, enhancing its capability for off-grid adventures.

The PV5 WKNDR’s “Gear Head” storage solution showcases innovation in outdoor vehicle organization. This system can be deployed outside the vehicle when parked, effectively doubling as a mobile pantry for outdoor cooking and extended stays, while keeping essential gear within easy reach and maximizing interior space.

The off-road capabilities are enhanced by its lifted chassis and robust tire configuration, which are designed to handle challenging terrain while maintaining comfort. An integrated onboard compressor provides functionality for various outdoor activities, from adjusting tire pressure to inflating camping equipment and mattresses.

Complementing the PV5 WKNDR, Kia also introduced its “Beyond Organization” concept at SEMA. This storage solution addresses common organizational challenges faced by outdoor enthusiasts.

The interior design prioritizes quick adaptability, with every aspect carefully considered to maximize utility while maintaining comfort. Features include adjustable seating configurations and integrated storage solutions that can be easily accessed and reorganized. A detailed showcase of the PV5 WKNDR’s capabilities and features was also presented at SEMA through video demonstrations.
