The Care Camps Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting pediatric oncology camps across the United States and Canada, has announced the addition of two new members to its leadership team.
Jenna Berneck has been named Director of Development, and Missy Lucas will serve as the Director of Marketing and Communications.
The appointments are part of the foundation’s continued efforts to grow its partnerships and increase visibility within the RV and outdoor recreation industries.
Berneck brings more than two decades of corporate sales experience and over 10 years in nonprofit leadership to her new role.
Her focus will be on expanding the foundation’s relationships within the RV sector and the broader outdoor recreation market.
According to Berneck, “I am thrilled for the opportunity to represent Care Camps Foundation and excited to bring the organization to new heights by targeting companies that are all things camping and outdoors. It is a perfect fit for my corporate and non-profit background, not to mention my passion for outdoor recreation.”
Lucas most recently held a position in franchise communications at Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA), and has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit public relations and outreach.
She emphasized her connection to the foundation’s roots and mission. “I’m excited to bring my love for the outdoors and my desire to further our mission together, working alongside this amazing team.
Care Camps Foundation got its start from a group of passionate KOA campground owners who began fundraising to send kids with cancer to camp, so this new role just feels like I’m in the right place.”
Care Camps Foundation was originally founded by KOA campground owners and has grown into a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
The organization funds medically supervised pediatric oncology camps, aiming to provide children with cancer and their families with opportunities for community and outdoor experiences.
The foundation partners with businesses, foundations, and individuals in the outdoor industry to support camps that are members of the Children’s Oncology Camping Association (COCA). COCA ensures quality standards and provides professional development for affiliated camps.
