As the Missouri State Fair approaches, camping enthusiasts are gearing up for the annual public campground opening on August 2. Located west of the fairgrounds on Clarendon Road, the expansive 60-acre camping area, sponsored by Missouri State Parks, offers a diverse range of accommodations.
According to a press release, the campground boasts approximately 95 full hook-up sites with 50-amp service, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. These spots provide campers with power for their RVs and motorhomes, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout the state fair.
Once these spaces are filled, additional dry camping options will be offered to accommodate the influx of visitors.
Catering to a diverse array of camping preferences, the fairgrounds welcome all types of units, from spacious RVs to tents. The daily rental fee for an unreserved spot is also set at $45 per vehicle or unit.
Another aspect of the campground is its amenities. Campers can take advantage of a range of features designed to enhance their stay, including three sewage waste dump stations, restrooms, and modern shower facilities. Additionally, free Wi-Fi provided by GoNetspeed ensures that guests can stay connected throughout their visit.
The camping line-up process will begin on Friday, August 2. Starting at 7:00 a.m., campers will be permitted to enter the fairgrounds and queue for their desired spots. Additionally, permits will only be issued to actual camping units, such as motor homes or vehicles towing campers.
“Quiet hours will be observed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. All radios, stereos, and all other audio equipment must be turned down during this time. No loud music is permitted to be played or broadcast at any time during quiet hours; all minors must be at their own site at quiet hours,” the press release indicated.
Payment options include cash and major credit cards, with a 2% plus $0.25 charge for credit transactions. To streamline the check-in process, campers are encouraged to have their payment ready and to download and complete the emergency contact form available on the Missouri State Fair’s website.
