Crowder State Park, west of Trenton (Missouri), will host a dutch oven cooking competition on September 16.
According to a report, participants can check in at their campsites Friday at 3:00 pm.
The participants will prepare entries from 10 am until 5 pm the next day. Youth and adults can participate in categories such as main meal, chili or soup, dessert, bread, judge’s favorite, and fan favorite.
Participants can stroll around the campground and exchange tips, ideas, and recipes with fellow campers. Participants can submit their entries for the fan favorite in a box outside the check station trailer.
Two judges will walk through the campground and taste the entries between 4 to 5 pm. Dutch oven cook-off winners will be announced at the campground amphitheater on September 17.
To register, send an e-mail to [email protected]. Each registration e-mail should contain the campsite number, name, youth or adult entry, and entry category.
According to its website, Crowder State Park provides 1,912 acres in the rolling green hills of northern Missouri. It offers 17 miles of hiking, bicycling, backpacking, and equestrian trails in forested, rugged terrain.
The family-oriented campground includes modern restrooms, and picnic sites are scattered throughout the park.
