Winnebago Industries, Inc, an outdoor lifestyle product manufacturer, recently revealed findings from its first comprehensive consumer research initiative on outdoor recreation.
As per a release, despite concerns that the post-pandemic era could cause people to withdraw from outdoor activities that they enjoyed because of the practicality of lockdowns, the pilot survey revealed that the future interest in outdoor activities is high, with almost 90% of outdoor enthusiasts planning to participate in more than or the same amount as they currently do over the coming six to twelve months. Following an increase in participation in the past two years, with those who engaged in outdoor activity by 19% (60% to 79%) from 2020 to 2021.
Michael Happe, Winnebago’s president and chief executive officer, said that Winnebago Industries is excited to roll out a new, concerted effort in sharing their insights into the health of the outdoor recreation industry.
He said that the initial report underscores how important exposure to the outdoors is for so many consumers.
Happe said that the idea that outdoor interest would recede with loosening COVID-19 restrictions is untrue and that they are seeing that the popularity of outdoor activities may continue to grow.
The study identified the main reasons for people staying outdoors and their expectations for the future. The key results include growth, connection, and freedom
Outdoor enthusiasts have various reasons for taking part in outdoor recreation activities, but the survey saw three central themes of growth, connection, and freedom as primary motivators for heading people heading to the great outdoors.
