Rochester-Marion KOA Reports Strong Fourth of July Bookings Despite Road Construction

The KOA Rochester-Marion campground in Minnesota is nearing full capacity for the Fourth of July weekend, with staff confirming more than 70 of its 85 available sites for RVs, tents, and cabins were reserved as of Wednesday, July 2.

Despite ongoing construction at the Interstate 90 and Highway 52 interchange, the campground has seen steady demand.

Staff initially feared the roadwork would deter traffic from Rochester, located just north of the site.

Louisa Papa, the camp host at Rochester-Marion KOA, said turnout has exceeded early-season expectations.

“It’s actually pretty much expected. We’d probably be even busier if it weren’t for the road construction up on 52, but for the most part we’re staying pretty busy,” Papa told KIMT3 News on July 2.

The campground, located in Marion, Minnesota, remains a draw for holiday travelers seeking proximity to nature without venturing too far from the city.

Visitors are often attracted to its peaceful setting, walking trails, and swimming amenities.

According to its website, the Rochester-Marion KOA offers a range of amenities designed to meet the needs of modern campers.

Guests can take advantage of up to 50-amp electrical service and sites that accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length. Connectivity is a priority, with Wi-Fi and cable TV available throughout the campground.

Additional conveniences include propane and firewood available for purchase, bike rentals, and a designated dog park for traveling pets.

Recreational options abound at the campground, offering activities for guests of all ages. Children can enjoy the playground and KOA Raceway, while families can spend time together at the swimming pool or exploring on four-wheel pedal bikes.

Sports facilities include a basketball court and open spaces for casual games.

Conveniently located off I-90 and Highway 52, the Rochester-Marion KOA also serves as a comfortable base for exploring southeastern Minnesota. Campers are within reach of the Mayo Clinic, the Mississippi River, and a variety of regional attractions.
