Public Campgrounds Embrace Campspot as Demand for Digital Management Rises

Public parks across North America are increasingly adopting Campspot’s reservation and management platform to streamline operations and enhance guest experiences.

According to the company, more than 300 public parks now use Campspot—a 40% increase from 2024 and a 74% increase from 2023—demonstrating the growing role of technology in supporting municipal campground management.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based company attributes this growth to its guest-paid pricing model, which allows cities, counties, and park systems to use the platform at no cost to their departments.

The system offers integrated tools for reservations, payments, and reporting, as well as a booking website designed for accessibility and inclusivity.

“Public parks are vital community assets, and our goal is to help them thrive,” said Erin Stender, Chief Revenue Officer at Campspot.

“We’re proud to see measurable success across the municipal parks that use Campspot, from stronger financial performance to better guest engagement. These results demonstrate that technology can make public park systems more sustainable and accessible for everyone.”

According to Campspot, public parks using its system have seen an average of 65% revenue growth year over year and a 49% increase in reservations in their first full year on the platform.

The company’s marketplace—an online directory of campgrounds—has also played a role in driving repeat business.

Campspot reports that each participating public park receives an average of 30 repeat reservations from guests who initially discovered the park through the Marketplace before booking directly.

For outdoor hospitality operators, these figures point to a broader trend of digitization across the public and private sectors.

As more municipal campgrounds adopt technology-driven solutions, expectations for modern booking systems, transparent reporting, and efficient operations are becoming standard across the industry.

The “Campspot for Muni” package provides municipal park systems with integrated payment and check-in tools, built-in analytics for stakeholder reporting, and dedicated onboarding support.

For many public park departments, this approach offers a cost-free path to modernization that aligns with their mission to maintain affordable and accessible outdoor recreation.

For campground and RV park operators in the private sector, Campspot’s expansion into public parks underscores the increasing value of adopting comprehensive management platforms that simplify workflows, enhance guest communication, and generate data insights to inform operational decisions.

Founded in Grand Rapids, Campspot continues to position itself as a key technology partner for both public and private campgrounds across North America, helping park systems adapt to evolving traveler expectations and operational challenges.
