Monroe County KOA Begins Phase 1 of Campground Upgrades with New Pools

The Monroe County / Toledo North KOA has commenced Phase 1 of an extensive campground improvement plan, with a focus on enhancing guest amenities and recreational offerings.

Groundbreaking began this fall, marking the start of an upgrade project aimed at elevating the experience for future visitors. This first phase involves aquatic developments, designed to attract campers of all ages to enjoy the new facilities.

Phase 1 includes the addition of two pools, catering to various preferences and age groups. The first pool is a zero-entry to three-foot swimming pool, designed for easy access and family-friendly use. The second pool, ranging from three to five feet in depth, offers a more traditional swimming area for those seeking a different aquatic experience. Adjacent to these pools, a pump house is under construction to serve as a multi-purpose facility, housing showers, bathrooms, and a retail space offering equipment rentals.

Recreational Adventures Co. (RAC), the company overseeing the project, views this phase as a milestone in a broader development vision for the KOA. Justin Cutler, vice president of RAC, expressed enthusiasm for the progress. “Seeing the progress of our pool project is a huge milestone for us, and it’s just the beginning of what’s to come,” Cutler said. He noted the importance of these upgrades in enhancing the campground’s appeal and ensuring an engaging experience for future campers.

The plans also include additional attractions, with a splash pad proposed between the two pools to provide another interactive water feature.

“While we’re still early in the process and can’t give a firm completion date just yet, we’re working hard to bring these upgrades to life as soon as possible. We can’t wait for our campers to experience it all!” Cutler said in a press release.

Reservations for the 2025 season open, enabling guests to experience these new additions firsthand.

The Monroe County KOA has long been known for its family-friendly atmosphere, offering a range of activities and attractions for all ages. The campground’s existing features include a 220-foot-long double-loop waterslide, a mini golf course, and themed events that bring added excitement to the camping experience.

In addition to these recreational activities, the KOA campground offers facilities like a baseball diamond, soccer goals, and multiple playgrounds.
