GatherGrounds Resorts has completed the acquisition of The Oaks Campground, a 155-acre outdoor hospitality destination situated in southern Michigan.
The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for GatherGrounds Resorts, which has already initiated a series of capital improvement projects and infrastructure upgrades.
Located adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, the property provides operational access to the largest state park in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.

The resort’s location is further bolstered by its proximity to Portage Lake, situated eight minutes from a public boat ramp serving the all-sports waterway.
The site also borders the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, a geographic feature that integrates natural wildlife viewing into the guest experience.
According to a press release, under the new ownership structure, GatherGrounds plans to revitalize approximately 120 acres of forested trails dedicated to multi-use recreation.

These trail systems will be engineered to accommodate mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking across the property’s varied terrain.
The development also includes significant renovations to the existing swimming lake beach, featuring new lounge seating and a sand volleyball court.
To increase on-site revenue and guest engagement, the company will install a Wibit inflatable waterpark as a primary family-oriented attraction.

The property also maintains a secondary lake dedicated exclusively to fishing, supported by multiple permanent dock structures.
Current infrastructure includes two large-scale bathhouses with shower facilities and on-site laundry to support long-term stay capabilities.
Retail operations at the on-site camp store will continue to provide essentials such as firewood and ice alongside a scooped ice cream service.

Future phases of the redevelopment will focus on modernizing amenities and implementing a structured calendar of weekend programming for the 2026 season.
