Pine Acres Family Camping Resort marked its 65th season in 2025 with a meaningful fundraising campaign, selecting the Karen Wellington Foundation as its charity partner for the year. The Massachusetts-based resort raised $30,900 for the organization, which supports women battling breast cancer through experiences focused on joy and relaxation.
The Karen Wellington Foundation, headquartered in Ohio with a New England Chapter, provides women and their families with “fun-only” experiences such as vacations, concert tickets, and spa days. The foundation’s mission is to give those undergoing treatment the opportunity to focus on positive moments away from the daily challenges of illness.
For Pine Acres, this year’s campaign carried special significance. The foundation once supported one of the resort’s own team and family members, Tessa Wisnewski, during her fight with cancer. Wisnewski and her family were given a weekend away in Vermont, a moment that allowed them to pause and reconnect amid treatment.
“The ability to step back from treatment momentarily and focus on the here and now is invaluable to these families,” the resort shared in its announcement.
Throughout the 2025 camping season, Pine Acres campers and staff joined forces to raise funds for the cause. The resort organized multiple events and activities to engage guests and the local community while honoring Wisnewski’s legacy.
Supporters were invited to purchase themed apparel bearing the slogan “Fight Cancer Like A Mother,” a tribute to Wisnewski’s courage and the foundation’s mission. Weekly raffle prizes donated by local businesses also helped sustain participation and awareness throughout the season.
In addition to raffles, the resort hosted tournaments, bake sales, crafts, and bingo nights to encourage community involvement. Each event provided another opportunity to raise funds and build support for the campaign’s goal.
Direct donations were also accepted online through the foundation’s fundraising link, allowing friends, family, and business partners to contribute remotely.
Pine Acres described the outcome as one of its most successful fundraising years to date. The combined efforts of guests, staff, and community partners reflected the resort’s long-standing commitment to charitable giving.
“We are extremely proud to announce that our campaign raised $30,900 for the Karen Wellington Foundation,” the resort indicates. “This was one of our most successful fundraisers, and we are very grateful for all of the support.”
Previous beneficiaries of Pine Acres’ seasonal campaigns include Project New Hope Inc., Why Me & Sherry’s House, Compassionate Cares ALS, and Pawsitively 4 Pink. Each collaboration reflects the resort’s broader philosophy of giving back to the community that supports it.
