Snowboarding enthusiast Josh Gangi acquired Pleasant River Campground in West Bethel, Maine. The purchase, brokered by Roger Daigle and Stanley Rintz of Daigle Commercial Group, marks Gangi’s latest investment in the region’s outdoor hospitality sector.
Gangi, who already owns five vacation-rental houses in the Bethel area and recently acquired the Inn at Rostay, was initially drawn to the area by his love for snowboarding.
“Snowboarding brought me to Bethel,” he explained, highlighting the region’s appeal to winter sports enthusiasts. “I love the area,” Gangi added.
Gangi’s vision for the campground extends beyond its current offerings. “We’ll be expanding and adding more accommodations,” he revealed. We’ll add geodomes, glamping domes, hot tubs, a sauna, some log cabins, some rental campers.
The campground’s location is a key factor in its appeal. Situated near popular ski areas like Sunday River and Mt. Abram, as well as natural attractions such as the White Mountain National Forest and Grafton Notch State Park, it serves as a gateway to Maine’s lakes and mountains region.
Rintz noted the robust market conditions. “It’s a very active market due to its popularity as a four-season tourism destination. It generated some really good activity, local and out-of-state,” Rintz said, as reported by Mainebiz on August 6.
According to its website, The Pleasant River Campground, nestled on 32 acres of picturesque Maine landscape, offers a blend of rustic charm and modern conveniences.
Situated along the Pleasant River, the site offers access to a variety of outdoor activities, including canoeing, fishing, hiking, and biking. The property is also equipped with 15 canoes, 14 kayaks, and two canoe/kayak trailers.
The campground features 75 campsites, catering to different preferences and needs. Among these, 18 sites are equipped with water, electric, and sewer connections; 29 have water and electric hookups; and 28 are without hookups, offering a range of options for various camping experiences.
The campground acquisition and planned improvements represent a financial commitment. Gangi estimates an investment of about $500,000 for the expansions, financed through commercial business loans.
Gangi viewed these investments as more than mere business opportunities, emphasizing his passion for providing visitors with “clean, fun, and memorable” places to stay and activities to enjoy.
