LARVC Pioneers New Networking Event: ‘Business After Hours’ Draws State’s Top Campground Owners, Executives

The Louisiana Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (LARVC) recently launched its “Business After Hours” initiative, a series of gatherings aimed at fostering collaboration and discussion among its members.

The inaugural event, held at Lakeview Park & Beach in Eunice (Louisiana) on July 26, was a testament to the association’s commitment of creating opportunities for its members to connect outside of the annual state conference.

In an email interview with Modern Campground, LARVC Executive Director Lisa Thibodaux shed light on the objectives and future plans of these gatherings.

The goal of the get-togethers, she said, is to provide a platform “to get members together other than at the annual state conference”.

When asked about the eligibility criteria for these events, Thibodaux clarified that the Business After Hours is open to all LARVC members as well as potential members. It can also be an excellent opportunity for those considering joining the association to get a firsthand experience of the benefits and camaraderie that LARVC offers.

The first meeting was not just about networking; it also facilitated open discussions on pressing topics. Attendees had a “cracker barrel” style discussion where members shared insights on various subjects.

“[We] discussed occupancy so far this year, ways to generate additional funds during the week as weekends are usually full, and expansion/celebration of Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge and what that means for Louisiana,” Thibodaux told Modern Campground.

The first-ever Business After Hours of LARVC saw a diverse and notable attendance from the state’s campground and RV park community. Among the attendees were prominent figures from the Louisiana Travel Association, including Laine Garner and Charlie Waltman. Devie Domingue of Poche’s RV Park, Board Secretary/Treasurer Geralyn Myers of Myers Landing Campground, and representatives from Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge graced the occasion.

The event also saw the presence of Board Members Cheyenne Bertrand of Shady Lakes RV Park and Bonnie Kyzar of Lakeview Park & Beach, Sterling Dodd of Shady Lakes RV Park, and Laura Pitre of Lakeview Park & Beach. At the forefront were LARVC’s Executive Director Lisa Thibodaux and Board President Greg Domingue of Poche’s RV Park, leading the discussions and interactions.

Regarding the frequency of these meetings, the executive director said that the association is encouraging members to host these gatherings quarterly.

“Plans are being made for a potential September date for the next one as October is full of Halloween activities at most parks,” she added.

The LARVC, known for its dedication to promoting campgrounds and RV parks in Louisiana, continues to innovate with initiatives like Business After Hours. These events not only strengthen the association’s community but also provide invaluable insights and opportunities for its members.
