Kunes Auto & RV Group Announces Key Investments in Technician Training, Employee Safety

Kunes Auto & RV Group, a Midwest auto and RV dealership with over 45 locations, announced key investments to enhance its commitment to automotive service, technician training, and employee safety.

In collaboration with other Wisconsin Ford dealers, Kunes Ford has contributed $1 million to the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association (WATDA) Foundation, aiming to train the next generation of automotive technicians. CEO Gregg Kunes serves on the WATDA board, and many Kunes service technicians collaborate with the foundation, providing training and mentorship.

Additionally, Russ Kellom from Kunes Buick GMC of Stoughton has achieved the status of World Class GM Technician, further establishing Kunes Auto & RV Group’s reputation as a premier automotive service provider in the Midwest.

According to a press release, Kunes expressed pride in Kellom for achieving this distinction in automotive service. “His commitment to continue growing in an ever-changing field keeps Kunes ahead of the curve,” Kunes said.

In addition to focusing on professional development, Kunes Auto & RV Group has enhanced employee safety and preparedness. Following technician Christopher “Ty” Downing’s heart attack last fall, the company installed AED defibrillators at all its stores and initiated first aid training for employees.

Scott Kunes, chief operating officer at Kunes Auto Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to equipping employees with the necessary training.

“While it’s unclear whether the presence of defibrillators would have saved Ty’s life, we want to equip our employees with the training and supplies they may need should a similar situation arise. We hope that Ty’s family will see this as something positive that came from their terrible loss,” Kunes said.

Founded in 1996 in Delavan, Wisconsin, Kunes Auto & RV Group has grown to encompass over 40 locations across the Midwest. The company employs over 1,800 individuals and donates 10% of its annual net profits to local charities.
