KOA Reservation Add-Ons Feature Boosts Revenue, Enhances Guest Experience

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) has reported strong early results from its new reservation add-ons tool, which allows campers to purchase items such as firewood, ice, and visitor passes during the booking process.

Launched as an enhancement to KOA’s proprietary K2 platform, the feature has been adopted by 42% of KOA campgrounds and has generated more than $140,000 in additional revenue.

The tool, introduced to streamline operations and elevate the guest experience, is now active at 210 KOA locations.

Campground operators can choose which products to offer, including popular camp store items and equipment rentals such as golf carts and kayaks. The integration provides a new revenue stream while improving inventory planning and guest convenience.

“As a leader in outdoor hospitality, our team is always seeking innovative ways to remove barriers for campers, helping them get to the memorable part of their adventure more quickly,” said Cole Reinhardt, vice president of Digital Strategy at KOA.

“Offering guests the ability to add retail items to their reservation eases the planning process while helping our campgrounds better anticipate and meet guest needs,” Reinhard added.

Built directly into KOA’s online and in-person booking processes, the feature enables campground staff to promote items at the front desk while allowing guests to customize their stay digitally.

The initiative aligns with broader trends in the travel and hospitality industries, where personalization and digital tools are reshaping guest expectations. KOA’s add-ons represent a practical application of these trends within the outdoor hospitality space, offering franchisees a way to grow revenue without major operational changes.

Looking ahead, KOA plans to introduce further enhancements to the reservation add-ons platform, building on its initial success.

KOA has been a p figure in outdoor hospitality for more than 60 years. Its network includes over 500 franchised and owned campgrounds across North America, offering campground owners technology, marketing, and operational support through the KOA and Terramor Outdoor Resorts brands.
