KOA Goes All Out On Louisiana Convention, Expo

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) went all out in organizing its 2021 KOA Convention and Expo in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as it started strong on Monday with both KOA owners and soon-to-be campground owners in attendance.

Board meetings, information-rich sessions, and a Mardi Gras-themed welcome reception launched the convention’s first day. The world’s largest system of campgrounds is also preparing over 30 educational sessions covering various subjects this year.

The company recognized its awardees the day after. Each year, the world’s most extensive system of campgrounds surveys its campers after their campground stays. A combination of guest feedback and results of an annual inspection process determines the qualification of Canadian and American KOAs for the Founder’s Award and the President’s Award.

The KOA President’s Award is presented annually to KOA campgrounds that offer impeccable camping facilities and excellent guest service. According to a release, the KOA Founder’s Award awardees are leaders who embody Dave Drum’s (KOA’s Founder) vision of “providing excellence for generations of campers.”

Later on Tuesday night, followed a special KOA Owners’ Association event in support of Care Camps, an initiative providing opportunities for children with cancer to experience the great outdoors. Those who registered flocked to the Hilton Capital Rooftop and enjoyed music by the poolside paired with an assortment of Cajun-style hors d’oeuvres plus drinks.

Apart from an overview of the current year and a financial report, Area Directors for 2022 will be introduced during KOA Owners’ Association’s (KOA OA) annual meeting and general session on Wednesday. Winners of the 2021 KOA OA Awards for both the KOA Employee of the Year and We Are Family Award will also be announced.

KOA OA will be hosting a Zoom session for those who will not be able to join.

According to its website, Kampgrounds of America has been hosting an annual convention for its campgrounds for almost 60 years. Happening every November, the locations differ each year. The convention sees KOA’s focus on its prior year’s success and its future as the leader of private camping in North America.
