Jellystone Parks Expand Eco-Friendly Efforts Across US and Canada in Time for Earth Day

As Earth Day approaches on April 22, Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts across the United States and Canada are ramping up their environmental efforts with new energy-saving technologies, recycling initiatives, and digital tools aimed at reducing waste and conserving resources.

The themed campground network, known for family-friendly attractions and events, is introducing a variety of green practices, including paperless check-in systems and app-based activity schedules.

“Many of our locations are using paperless check-in and are encouraging guests to use the Jellystone Park app to access the daily activity schedules instead of relying on printed activity schedules. Some locations even use recycled materials for their arts and crafts activities,” Trent Hershenson, vice president of marketing for Camp Jellystone, said in a press release.

The company, headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, franchises Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences. Parks throughout the network are incorporating sustainability into operations as they prepare for the annual Earth Day observance.

In California, the Lodi Jellystone Park has taken a significant step by installing a 1.6-acre solar field that powers the campground. LED lighting has been installed throughout the property, and motion-activated lights are used in public buildings to reduce electricity consumption.

At the Estes Park location in Colorado, guests will find solar-powered lighting illuminating the trash disposal area, while interior spaces like comfort stations are equipped with motion-sensor lights to ensure minimal energy use.

The Lincoln location in Delaware has adopted paperless check-ins and installed automatic shutoff systems for lighting and water faucets in shared spaces.

Indiana’s Fremont park has also implemented auto-shutoff lighting in all comfort stations and converted showers to a push-button system to conserve water.

At the Plymouth location, also in Indiana, campground operators have upgraded to LED lighting and installed waterless urinals in restrooms to further minimize water waste.
