Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts are known for their Yogi Bear mascots, but activities and themed weekends are what make the parks memorable.
While some weekend themes like “Death by Chocolate,” “Christmas in July,” and “Halloween Spooktaculars” take place every year, new activities and weekend themes are constantly being introduced, according to a press release.
“Our franchisees like to mix it up and create several new weekend themes each year so that families can enjoy different experiences,” said Trent Hershenson, vice president of marketing for Camp Jellystone, which franchises more than 75 Jellystone Park locations across the U.S. and Canada.
At Jellystone Park Caledonia (Wisconsin), new activities include a “Cinco de Mayo” themed weekend from May 6-8, in which guests can make mom a maraca for Mother’s Day, enjoy a Mexican hat dance, a human cactus relay ring toss, and play Spanish-style musical dots. Fall theme weekends at this location include a “Day of the Dead Fall Fiesta” from September 23-25, in which kids can enjoy creating a sugar skull mask, participating in a sugar skull relay race, and competing in a sugar skull face painting contest.
In Plymouth, Indiana, this Jellystone Park location is introducing “Glow Galore Weekend” from May 15-18 with a glow-in-the-dark dance and glow hayrides.
The first three weeks of June at Jellystone Park in Quarryville, Pennsylvania will have a wizards and magic theme. In addition to themed activities, magicians will perform at the park on June 4, 12, 18, and 22.
Meanwhile, for the first time in several years, Tabor City, North Carolina’s Jellystone Park will have a “Reeling in the Fun Weekend” from May 20-22, which will include fishing tournaments, crafts, and gummy worm eating contests.
Last but not least is the park in Williamsport, Maryland where the Santa will be hosting a trivia night during the park’s annual Christmas in July weekends (July 23 and 30). The park is also working with artists to develop face painting, caricature drawing, and paint night activities each week during the summer months while apple cider making activities are planned for the weekends of Sepember 10 and 17.
