Jayco Family of Companies has reached a significant milestone in its energy management strategy, completing the first phase of an initiative aimed at reducing energy waste and costs.
The effort, launched in June 2021, is the result of a partnership with Tactical Energy Group and the coordinated efforts of Jayco’s intercompany Energy Team. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Located in Middlebury, Indiana, Jayco has implemented several solutions to achieve these goals. Among the most impactful are a 1-megawatt solar system, a comprehensive LED lighting retrofit, and the integration of the virtual energy manager system.
These measures have yielded measurable results, including a 50% reduction in energy waste, a 23% decrease in total kilowatt hours, and a 27% year-over-year decline in overall energy usage.
According to a press release, Scott Myers, facilities director at Jayco, highlighted the importance of the new systems and the employees’ contributions.
“The partnership with Tactical Energy Group and the implementation of our Virtual Energy Manager system has provided real-time insights into energy use and impacts across our facilities,” Myers stated.
“It has revealed new methods to reduce costs and optimize operations. None of these achievements would have been possible without our most powerful tool—our people,” Myers added.
Phase 2 of Jayco’s energy strategy is now underway, focusing on grid efficiency and load factor improvements. By optimizing energy use, the company aims to further reduce costs and consumption, building on the progress already made in Phase 1.
