Miller Riverview Park in Dubuque Temporarily Shuts Down Due to High Water Levels

The City of Dubuque in Iowa has temporarily closed Miller Riverview Park and Campground due to elevated water levels on the Mississippi River.

The announcement was made Sunday, July 6, as part of precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

The 20-acre campground, located at 1851 Admiral Sheehy Drive near the Q Casino + Resort, will remain closed until further notice.

According to the city, the goal is to reopen the park by next weekend. “We hope to reopen by next weekend. An update will be posted here when the park and campground reopen. Thank you,” the campground indicates.

Miller Riverview Park is a popular destination for both residents and tourists, offering a range of amenities including primitive and electric campsites, handicapped-accessible restrooms, picnic shelters, and nearly a mile of walking and biking trail along the Mississippi River.

The park also features a playground, firepit grills, pet-friendly campsites, and access to fishing.

A city water station and dumping facility are located near the campground entrance, providing essential services for RV users.

Typically, the campground operates from mid-April through the fourth Sunday in October, although access is contingent on weather and river levels.

Reservations can be made up to 240 days in advance, with same-day bookings also available. Reservations are recommended, especially during weekends and holidays, due to high demand.

Campsite fees are $25 per unit per night for sites with electric hookups, and $18 per unit per night for primitive, non-electric sites.

Miller Riverview Park and Campground also offers three picnic pavilion shelters, the Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin Pavilions, each designed to accommodate up to 24 people.

All three are handicapped accessible and equipped with 15-amp electrical outlets, picnic tables, and one barbecue grill, providing guests with convenient amenities for group gatherings and outdoor meals.
