Linn County Debuts New Cabins and Campground at Pinicon Ridge Park

Linn County Conservation will host a public open house on Saturday, June 8, from 1 to 3 p.m., to showcase new accommodations at Pinicon Ridge Park near Central City, Iowa.

The event will provide a first look at the newly completed Coneflower and Ridgewood Cabins and the Firefly Campground.

The additions are part of a broader effort to meet growing public demand for outdoor recreation options.

According to Linn County Conservation Executive Director Dennis Goemaat, the upgrades expand the park’s appeal to families seeking modern amenities while experiencing nature.

“The new cabins present another accommodation option for families to experience nature firsthand during park visits,” said Goemaat.

Each of the wood-framed, all-season cabins sleeps 10 to 12 guests and is outfitted with features designed for both comfort and convenience.

Amenities include four bedrooms—one of which contains two bunk beds—multiple bathrooms with showers, a full kitchen, recreation room, walkout basement, patio, grill, and fire pit.

Cabins rent for $250 per night with a two-night minimum, or a three-night minimum on holiday weekends. Weekly stays are available for $1,500, according to a report by KMCH.

The new Firefly Campground, which includes 32 campsites with full utility hookups, is now the only area in Pinicon Ridge Park that offers online reservations. Campsites rent for $40 per night with a two-night minimum.

The campground also includes a new showerhouse and playground, enhancing the overall guest experience.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, this development demonstrates how municipal and county agencies are responding to the ongoing growth in camping and outdoor accommodations.

The blend of rustic setting with full-service cabins and modern campgrounds aligns with trends seen in both the glamping and RV sectors, suggesting increased expectations for comfort and convenience among today’s park-goers.

Business owners in these industries may find value in monitoring how public entities like Linn County are integrating digital reservation systems and investing in higher-end infrastructure to serve evolving customer preferences.

Visitors attending the open house are advised to use the park’s north entrance off Highway 13 at 4948 Valley Farm Road.

From there, signage will direct attendees to Firefly Road. Designated parking is available at Firefly Campground, with shuttle services and walking access provided to the cabins.Reservations and additional information about cabin and campground rentals can be found at LinnCountyIowa.gov/Conservation.
