RVIA Advocates for Legislative Reforms at the 2023 National Conference of State Legislatures

The RV Industry Association‘s (RVIA) State Government Affairs team marked their presence at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ 2023 Legislative Summit held in Indianapolis, IN.

This summit, a significant state legislative event, witnessed the participation of over 5,000 attendees, including legislators, legislative staff, lobbyists, and government affairs professionals from across the nation.

The association’s team, in collaboration with other industry partners, showcased the future of electrified travel with the eStream, a fully-electric concept travel trailer.

The summit served as a platform for the association to strategize for the upcoming 2024 legislative sessions. Their primary focus was on raising the profile of the RV industry’s priorities, as per the News & Insights report of the RVIA.

Jason Rano, vice president of RVIA’s Government Affairs team, emphasized the importance of educating state legislators about the RV industry and its broader connection to the outdoor recreation sector.

One of the notable moments of the summit was the recognition of Rep. Eric Robertson (R-WA-31) with RVIA’s National Legislative Award. This accolade is bestowed upon individuals who have showcased exemplary efforts in legislative matters pertaining to the RV industry.

Rep. Robertson, apart from his legislative contributions, is an avid RVer, often camping around Washington State in his RV when not engaged in Olympia.

Rep. Robertson’s dedication to the RV industry is evident in his role as the Washington State House minority caucus vice chair and the ranking minority member of the Labor & Workplace Standards Committee.

This committee plays a pivotal role in the RV industry in Washington state, ensuring that RV units have the necessary Washington state insignia for legal sale.

Robertson’s efforts in sponsoring a 2023 bill, which reformed the State’s plan approval process, have been instrumental in facilitating the operations of the RV Industry Association’s manufacturer members in the state.

Craig Kirby, President and CEO of the RV Industry Association, lauded Rep. Robertson for his unwavering support and commitment to the RV industry.

“He has shown great dedication and commitment to the RV industry and its initiatives. Congratulations to Rep. Robertson on being a recipient of the 2023 National Legislative Award!” remarked Kirby.

The summit also featured other notable personalities, including Peyton Manning, who shared insights on leadership and success. Attendees had the opportunity to network and explore a plethora of exhibitors offering products tailored to state governments. The event concluded on a musical note with a concert by the Grammy-nominated band, Midland.

The National Conference of State Legislatures’ 2023 Legislative Summit was not just an event but a platform for advocacy, networking, and showcasing innovations.

RVIA’s State Government Affairs team’s participation and efforts at the summit underscore their commitment to championing the interests of the RV industry at the state level. Their endeavors aim to ensure that the RV industry continues to thrive, innovate, and contribute significantly to the U.S. economy.
