World of Hyatt, in collaboration with Reese’s Book Club and glamping provider Under Canvas, has launched Camp Unwritten, a limited-time summer experience blending outdoor hospitality with literary programming.
This initiative aims to attract guests seeking both nature and cultural enrichment, with a series of author-led events set against the backdrop of premium glamping sites across the U.S.
Camp Unwritten is structured around a series of three weekend events hosted at different Under Canvas locations, each featuring a well-known author tied to Reese’s Book Club.
The first event, scheduled for July 14–16 at Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge, will feature Alexene Farol Follmuth, author of Twelfth Knight.
Guests will receive an advance copy of her upcoming book, Girl Dinner, and have the opportunity to participate in a private Q&A session, according to a press release.
The second event will take place July 28–30 at Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains and will spotlight Ally Condie, author of The Unwedding, the club’s June 2024 selection. Condie is expected to host conversations around the campfire and share insights into her creative process with attendees.
The final event in the series will occur August 19–21 at ULUM Moab. The featured author, connected to Reese’s Book Club’s July 2025 pick, has not yet been announced. This experience will include group hikes, discussions, and stargazing in the Moab desert landscape.
Sarah Harden, CEO of Hello Sunshine, the media company behind Reese’s Book Club, emphasized the program’s mission:
“At Hello Sunshine, we see books as a way to unite people. Collaborating with World of Hyatt allows us to bring beloved Reese’s Book Club stories to life in enchanting settings, fostering meaningful connections among like-minded travelers under the stars.”
World of Hyatt members who book stays at Under Canvas or ULUM properties during June 2025 for travel later in the year will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Headspace.
Additional promotions include the “Stars Above, Miles Ahead” campaign, which awards 1 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus mile per dollar spent on eligible stays from June 15 to September 15, 2025. Hyatt members must register by September 14 to qualify.
A second promotion, “Road Trip, Earn and Save,” enables members to earn 500 World of Hyatt Points and save up to 35% on Avis car rentals when booked with AWD number K817738 and linked to their Hyatt membership. Rentals must begin by December 31, 2025.
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality and glamping industries, Camp Unwritten reflects a growing trend: consumers are increasingly looking for curated, themed travel experiences that combine leisure, learning, and luxury.
The partnership illustrates how brands can integrate experiential storytelling into outdoor accommodations to appeal to niche traveler interests.
It also presents a case study in cross-industry collaboration—uniting travel, publishing, and wellness—to attract new demographics to glamping environments.
According to Laurie Blair, senior vice president of global marketing at Hyatt, the idea was sparked by trends in experiential travel and book-focused social media communities:
“With BookTok, Bookstagram, experiential travel, and outdoor adventures all having a moment, we saw the perfect chance to bring it all together.”
Camp Unwritten may serve as a model for future programs that align brand experiences with unique guest interests, providing ideas for outdoor hospitality operators seeking new ways to enhance their offerings and engage with culturally driven travelers.
