Idaho Parks and Recreation unveiled a new campground at Eagle Island State Park in Idaho, marking the latest addition to the park’s amenities.
The site will begin welcoming visitors on Aug. 28 with a limited opening phase while construction crews complete final work on the grounds.
The campground offers guests an early opportunity to stay at the new site before the project is fully completed.
“We have some very exciting news to share with you,” the department said in an Instagram post. “Take a look at these sneak peak pictures of the new Eagle Island Campground at Eagle Island State Park.”
The department emphasized that the phased rollout is designed to ensure the campground is safe and functional for early visitors. Additional enhancements and improvements will continue until the site is fully complete.
“Why a limited opening? Construction crews will continue working hard after the opening to put together the finishing touches, and ensure the campground is ready for everyone to enjoy,” the announcement stated.
The campground is part of a broader effort to expand recreational opportunities within Idaho’s state parks system.
Eagle Island State Park, located west of Boise, is a 545-acre recreation area bordered on the north and south by the Boise River. The park is a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of activities throughout the year.
Visitors can enjoy a swimming beach, grassy picnic areas, and more than five miles of trails suitable for hiking, horseback riding, or walking dogs.
During the summer, the park sees its highest level of use, with visitors swimming in the lake, riding the water slide, playing disc golf, and gathering for picnics.
Scheduled events also draw large crowds, with the east shelter frequently reserved for weddings, receptions, birthdays, and other gatherings. The park’s amenities, including charcoal grills, indoor restrooms, picnic areas, and water fountains, make it a convenient and family-friendly destination.
