Hipcamp Unveils List of 50 Favorite Campgrounds Across US

Hipcamp, an app for finding and booking campsites, has released its first-ever list of its 50 Favorite Places to Camp in America, spotlighting destinations across 30 states and the Navajo Nation.

The list arrives ahead of the summer season and aims to connect campers with both iconic and lesser-known outdoor stays.

Compiled from more than 500,000 listings nationwide, the selections were determined using a combination of camper reviews, ratings, cultural trends, and editorial input.

The list includes options ranging from private lands and RV parks to national and state park sites, offering travelers a variety of settings and experiences.

“We are excited to unveil our first ever list of our 50 favorite places to camp in America right now,” Alyssa Ravasio, CEO and founder of Hipcamp, said in a press release.

“With peak camping season upon us, this diverse list of incredible destinations caters to every type of camper,” Ravasio added.

Among the highlighted destinations are Zion Wright Ranch Eco-Camp in Utah, Table Rock State Park in South Carolina, and El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas. Several entries showcase sites that have rebuilt after natural disasters, reflecting the resilience of hosts and communities.

Bill and Megan Wright, owners of Zion Wright Ranch Eco-Camp, said, “Hosting campers from around the world has been such a joy—helping people unplug, enjoy nature, and escape the crowded campgrounds is what it’s all about.”

“Hosting campers through Hipcamp has been an incredibly rewarding experience for us,” said Chad and Cynthia Tuttle, owners of C2T Ranch. “We’ve met amazing people and discovered the joy in sharing our slice of heaven with others.”

The list includes Village Camp Flagstaff in Flagstaff, Arizona; A Spark in the Dark Campground in Ash Fork, Arizona; and Sunset View Campground in the Navajo National Monument. In Arkansas, Bentonville Bike Camp in Bentonville made the list.

California locations include Boulder Creek RV Resort in Lone Pine; Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch in Loma Mar; Campo Nopalito in Valley Center; Twisted Branch in Paso Robles; Slide Ranch in Muir Beach; and Timber Cove Campground in Jenner.

Colorado’s Ruby Mountain Campground in Chaffee County was selected, along with Buttonwood Campground in Bahia Honda State Park, Florida, and Shady Pines Campground in T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, also in Florida. Georgia is represented by Secluded Waterfall Haven in Dillard, while Sun Farm Hawaii @ Koko Head in Honolulu marks the list’s Hawaii entry.

City of Rocks State Park Campground in Idaho joins Windy Goat Acres in Chelsea, Iowa, and C2T Ranch on the Saline River in Plainville, Kansas.

In Maryland, Oceanside Drive-In Campground in Assateague Island National Seashore is included. Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat in Warwick, Massachusetts; and Port Crescent Modern Campground in Port Crescent State Park, Michigan, are also listed.

Minnesota’s Shipwreck Creek Campground in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park and Glacier Park Hipcamp in Coram, Montana, were recognized.

All campgrounds are available for booking through the Hipcamp app, where real-time availability is shown.

Each listing has been marked with a “Hipcamp Favorite” badge to highlight the recognition.
