Hipcamp Partners With Sun Outdoors to Expand Access to Premium Camping Experiences

Hipcamp has announced a new strategic partnership with Sun Outdoors, one of North America’s largest owners and operators of RV resorts and campgrounds. 

The collaboration brings 100 Sun Outdoors parks, including more than 20 Jellystone Parks, to the Hipcamp platform, expanding the app’s catalog of amenity-rich camping destinations.

The integration allows campers to discover and book Sun Outdoors’ wide range of RV sites, glamping accommodations, and family-friendly resorts directly through Hipcamp. The partnership aims to meet growing demand for outdoor experiences that combine nature with modern comforts.

According to a press release, Alyssa Ravasio, founder and CEO of Hipcamp, said the move supports the company’s mission to make outdoor recreation more accessible and convenient. 

“This partnership makes it even easier for campers to get outside while enjoying some of the perks of modern life—whether that’s a lakeside RV site with a water park or a family-friendly campground with all the comforts of home,” Ravasio said. “It’s another big step toward making Hipcamp the first and only app campers need.”

The collaboration also strengthens Sun Outdoors’ visibility among Hipcamp’s community of outdoor enthusiasts. 

“We’re pleased to expand our reach by introducing our resorts to Hipcamp’s community of outdoor enthusiasts,” said Ed Pogasic, vice president of revenue management at Sun Outdoors. “This collaboration broadens access to outdoor experiences, allowing guests to enjoy time outside in ways that best match their interests and comfort level.”

The partnership follows a period of rapid growth in the U.S. camping market. Over the past decade, the number of active campers has risen by 68%, representing 21.6 million additional households.

Recent trends indicate that campers are increasingly seeking convenience-driven features. Hipcamp reported a 20% increase this summer in searches for campsites with amenities and a 60% year-over-year increase in searches for Wi-Fi-equipped sites. Demand for full-hookup and family-oriented destinations also continues to grow.

By adding Sun Outdoors properties, Hipcamp expands its appeal to travelers seeking elevated camping experiences. The move complements Hipcamp’s earlier expansion efforts, including its acquisition of BookOutdoors in 2024.

Earlier this year, Hipcamp doubled its U.S. inventory to more than 500,000 campsites, making it the largest platform for booking campgrounds, RV parks, and unique outdoor stays in a single app. The addition of Sun Outdoors further solidifies that position.
