The latest installment of Go RVing’s “Trends to Know” series has shifted focus from emerging market movements to an enduring aspect of the RV lifestyle — community.
The campaign is designed to inform industry stakeholders about patterns that influence consumer engagement and travel behavior.
Go RVing reports that more Americans now than two decades ago consider their community activities, hobbies, or recreational pursuits to be “extremely” or “very important.”
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA, the 2025 Go RVing Owner Demographic Profile highlights that social activities remain a significant part of RV travel.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents said they enjoy visiting local attractions or participating in food tours during trips.
Another 26% cited outdoor sports, 19% attend music festivals, and 12% take part in tailgating.
Joining RV clubs remains a key method for fostering these connections. According to Go RVing, clubs cater to different RV enthusiast segments and regularly host camping events or rallies at campgrounds nationwide. These gatherings offer opportunities for like-minded travelers to connect while exploring various destinations.
Campgrounds and RV parks are also described as natural hubs for interaction. Many facilities organize activities such as hiking, biking, swimming, cornhole, and board games.
Volunteering while traveling has also emerged as a way RVers build bonds. Examples cited by Go RVing include Lippert’s seRV program and Habitat for Humanity’s RV Care-A-Vanners initiative.
The report suggests that the RV industry can continue to support community building by organizing events and activities tailored to travelers. These could include potluck dinners, outdoor movie nights, group hikes, fitness classes, arts and crafts sessions, and seasonal celebrations.
Digital tools are another avenue for connection. Go RVing points to community-focused apps that help travelers find others nearby, exchange recommendations, and share itineraries. The Harvest Hosts app, for example, offers members a map of locations, host information, and user reviews.
Industry participation in RV shows and rallies is also highlighted as a strategy to strengthen community ties.
Educational resources also play a role in integrating newcomers into the community. Providing guidance on RV maintenance, safety, and trip planning can help new owners feel more confident and connected, according to Go RVing.
The organization emphasizes the value of sharing authentic traveler experiences.
“By sharing the authentic experiences of real RVers, the industry can continue highlighting the friendships and connections that are an integral part of the RV lifestyle,” the report said.
