Blue Moon Campground (Georgia) has wrapped up its inaugural season in North Georgia, celebrating a successful debut as a private, LGBTQ+-exclusive destination that combines rustic outdoor experiences with resort-style comfort.
The 220-acre property, designed for adults ages 21 and older, operates on a private membership model and has quickly become a haven for those seeking both outdoor recreation and inclusive community.
According to an article published by Gay Cities on October 28, Founded by Andrew Kibble and his team, Blue Moon Campground offers a blend of traditional camping and glamping accommodations, including tent sites, RV hookups, and custom-built cabins.

The variety allows guests to tailor their stays to their preferred level of comfort while connecting with nature and like-minded travelers.
“Once in a blue moon, you find a place that feels truly magical, and that is why we called it Blue Moon Campground,” Kibble said.
The property’s amenities include a central clubhouse and a pool surrounded by forest views. These gathering spots have become focal points for guests to unwind, socialize, and enjoy themed events.
In its first 10 weekends, the campground welcomed more than 1,000 guests for signature events including Bears in the Woods, Wet & Wild, Oktoberfest, and Halloween. These themed gatherings quickly established the park as a lively hub for the LGBTQ+ outdoor community.

According to Kibble, the campground was created to offer more than recreation. “We wanted to build a space where LGBTQ+ people could relax, recharge, and connect — whether that’s around a campfire, by the pool, or on a trail,” he said.
The team behind Blue Moon is also planning an expansion for 2026.

Membership at Blue Moon requires completing an online application and agreeing to campground policies. The membership model helps maintain privacy and exclusivity while preserving what the founders describe as “the unique environment we’re building.”
Located within a short drive of Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Nashville — and roughly six hours from Charlotte and Asheville — Blue Moon’s accessibility has made it an appealing weekend getaway for residents across the Southeast.

The campground’s balance of nature, comfort, and community engagement has positioned it as a destination for niche outdoor destinations that cater to underrepresented travelers.
“Our mission is to create a warm, welcoming, and safe haven for our community. As a member, you’ll enjoy access to a serene retreat where you can relax and unwind amidst the beauty of nature while connecting with friends—both old and new,” the campground’s website indicates.
