Nature’s Resort Campground Raises $5,058 for Citrus County Shop With a Cop Program

At Nature’s Resort Campground in Homosassa, Florida, staff, guests, and community partners recently collaborated to raise funds for the Citrus County Shop With a Cop Program.

The initiative, led by the campground’s Activities Directors, Kissy and Bubba, raised $2,529 through donations from guests. The total was doubled when Ackley Investments, the campground’s owner, matched the contributions, bringing the total to $5,058.

The fundraising event concluded in early December 2025, and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office collected the donation at the campground. The program uses these funds to support local children during the holiday season, providing gifts and essentials to families in need.

Jennifer Johnson, general resort manager at Nature’s Resort, commented on the initiative: “We have one amazing team and community here at Nature’s Resort, and I could not be more proud of them. Humbleness at its finest.”

The event demonstrates how private campgrounds can engage guests and staff in community support while building goodwill and local connections.

For outdoor hospitality operators, initiatives like this highlight a potential avenue to strengthen relationships with guests and local authorities while contributing to social responsibility efforts.

Beyond charitable impact, such engagement can improve guest loyalty, staff satisfaction, and community perception, all of which are increasingly important metrics for private campgrounds, RV resorts, and glamping properties.

By involving both staff and guests in fundraising, Nature’s Resort created an inclusive environment that reinforces community values while supporting a charitable cause. Similar strategies can be replicated by other outdoor hospitality businesses seeking ways to integrate corporate social responsibility with guest experiences.

The donation marks a notable example of how small- to mid-sized campgrounds can make measurable contributions to their local communities while fostering a positive brand image. The Shop With a Cop program will use the funds to enhance holiday experiences for children in Citrus County, providing support during the December holiday period.
