FRVCA Releases Key Updates on Hurricane Helene Recovery for Florida RV Parks

The Florida RV Park and Campground Association (FRVCA) announced important updates regarding the ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene, which impacted the Gulf Coast.

The storm damaged Florida’s coastal areas from Ft. Myers to Panacea, leaving “many of these communities in the cleanup and recovery phase for months.” Despite the destruction in some areas, the FRVCA emphasized that most RV parks remain open and operational as the state gears up for the busy Snowbird season.

“Our hearts go out to those parks that sustained damage, but it’s important to note that the majority of the state’s parks were not affected,” FRVCA said in a press release.

In addition to providing information on park openings, FRVCA shared vital disaster recovery resources available to park owners and operators. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering disaster loans to businesses affected by the storm. The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan (EBL) Program has also been activated, providing short-term financial relief to businesses.

FRVCA is sharing updates on telecommunications efforts, noting that Xfinity has activated public WiFi hotspots across affected areas to help businesses and residents stay connected. These hotspots are available in parks, shopping districts, and other public spaces.

In addition to Xfinity’s public WiFi hotspots, Starlink has joined the recovery efforts by offering free internet service for 30 days to those affected by Hurricane Helene.

For park operators seeking further information on recovery resources, FRVCA encouraged them to visit FloridaDisaster.org for ongoing updates from Gov. DeSantis and other state agencies. The site offers a comprehensive guide to recovery programs available to businesses and residents affected by the hurricane.

According to the press release, several members have reached out seeking information on companies that provide manufactured portable offices or bathhouses. FRVCA has compiled a list of manufacturers offering portable office and bathhouse units. Companies such as Vacavia Cottages, Chariot Eagle Park Models, and Cabins and Gulf Atlantic Cottages provide quick solutions to park owners whose facilities were damaged by the storm.
