Florida Prepares for Snowbird Season with Expanded RV Accommodations

Florida is set to welcome snowbirds this winter with a growing roster of new and expanding RV resorts across the state. Known for its year-round sunshine, pristine beaches, and diverse attractions, Florida continues to draw winter travelers seeking respite from colder climates.

Bobby Cornwell, president and CEO of the Florida RV Park and Campground Association, highlighted the growing appeal of these destinations, stating, “We continue to see both new and expanding RV resorts in Florida, many of which have exceptional amenities.”

The Florida RV Park and Campground Association, based in Tallahassee, offers resources through its website, CampFlorida.com, which features a searchable database of campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts statewide. This resource helps travelers plan their stays while showcasing the variety and quality of accommodations available to visitors.

One notable expansion this year is Breezy Oaks RV Park in Bushnell, which added 178 new sites, bringing its total to 396. The park now offers high-speed internet across all sites, catering to modern travelers’ connectivity needs.

Crosslake RV Park in Jacksonville also saw growth, increasing its site count to 84 by adding 44 big-rig-friendly spaces. Visitors to this park can enjoy a 4-acre catch-and-release fishing lake surrounded by walking trails and farmland views, creating a peaceful escape within a growing urban area.

The Olde Florida Motorcoach Resort in LaBelle is also preparing to open its doors in January. Situated 22 miles east of Fort Myers, this upscale development will offer RV sites for sale, with plans to expand to 440 sites over time.

Panama City Beach KOA Holiday is another new addition, expected to open in mid-January. With 102 RV sites, nine furnished cabins, and tent sites, the pet-friendly campground features a fenced dog park and a pavilion for gatherings.

Located in the heart of one of Florida’s most popular beach destinations, this park aims to provide a balance of relaxation and activity.

Peace River Oaks in Bowling Green is also a new destination that opened in December. Nestled along the Peace River, the park offers 43 full-hookup RV sites with concrete pads, picnic tables, and firepits, as well as 20 glamping sites.

Preservation Point in Inverness plans to launch the first phase of its development in February, opening 221 RV sites. Situated in Citrus County, known for its freshwater springs and outdoor recreation opportunities, the resort will feature a lakeside pavilion and dock, with plans to expand to 1,000 sites.

Sweet Citrus Acres RV Resort in Crystal River is now welcoming guests for the winter season. With amenities such as a 7-acre stocked fishing lake, kayak rentals, hiking trails, and an on-site restaurant, this resort offers visitors a blend of relaxation and recreation in the heart of Florida’s Nature Coast.

The Station RV Resort in Madison also celebrated its grand opening in September. This 92-site park offers amenities including a fitness center, dog park, and courts for pickleball, bocce ball, and cornhole.

Additionally, Vacay Village of Pensacola in Pace currently operates with 29 sites but plans to expand to 81 next year. Situated near Pensacola’s vibrant cultural and historical offerings, this park combines convenience with a small-community atmosphere, catering to both long-term guests and transient travelers.
