Many of Florida’s campgrounds and RV parks are serving as base camps for families seeking outdoor recreation and resort-style amenities during the summer months, blending traditional RV camping with glamping, waterparks, fishing, and adventure activities.
Operators across the state have expanded offerings to attract both RV owners and non-RV travelers, adding air-conditioned cabins, luxury tents, and organized experiences alongside full-service RV sites.
“Our campgrounds and RV resorts offer everything from waterparks to fishing lakes and jet boat tours and even rugged areas where off-road vehicle enthusiasts can test their skills,” Bobby Cornwell, president and CEO of the Florida RV Park and Campground Association, said in a press release.
Popular water attractions include Camp Margaritaville RV and Cabana Resort in Auburndale, which features a heated pool with a 147-foot slide, a splash pad, and a lakeside bar, and Splash RV Resort and Waterpark in Milton, known for its swimming pools, splash zone, lazy river, and tiki bar.
Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA Holiday also offers guests a swimming pool, private beach, marina with inflatable climbing structures, and rentals for kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment, catering to families visiting the Florida Keys.
Vacay Villages of Pensacola in Pace recently added water balloon battle stations to its resort, which also features a pool with a cave grotto, waterfall, sauna, and hot tub to attract guests seeking unique aquatic fun.
The Tides RV Resort in Palmetto and Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort in Okeechobee complement water amenities with catch-and-release fishing lakes, fitness centers, and organized community events to enhance guest stays.
Fishing destinations such as Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort in Palmetto, Indian Mound Fish Camp in Oak Hill, and Sun Outdoors Islamorada provide easy access to popular fishing spots, charter services, and complimentary use of kayaks and paddleboards.
For travelers seeking adventure, Peace River Campground in Arcadia has transformed more than 100 acres into an off-roading area for vehicles, in addition to riverfront camping, a swimming pool, and a small petting zoo.
Network operators continue to position parks as gateways to nearby attractions. Applebrook RV Parks owns several Florida properties, including Silver Springs RV Park near Silver Springs State Park, Cypress Campground and RV Park in Winter Haven near Legoland and the Peppa Pig Theme Park, and Kissimmee RV Park, which is just six miles from Disney World.
