The Dunnellon City Council in Florida, in a decisive move on March 13, granted approval for a new luxury RV park, aptly named Follow That Dream RV Resort. This unique venture draws inspiration from an Elvis Presley musical, adding a thematic charm to the project.
According to a Citrus County Chronicle report, the approval passed with a 4-0 vote in favor, which is a significant step forward for Southern Springs Inc., the Fort Lauderdale-based developer spearheading the initiative. Councilman Chuck Dillon abstained from voting, citing a conflict of interest due to his property’s proximity to the planned development site.
Positioned on a sprawling 30-acre tract north of West Highway 40, west of Rolling Hills Road, the resort plans to offer an array of luxury amenities tailored to ensure a self-sufficient and enjoyable stay for its guests.
“The product we’re bringing to the City of Dunnellon is a high-end RV park. These are destination-type resorts. They’re basically full from Labor Day until Easter,” Rodney Rogers of Ocala, the representative for Southern Springs Inc., said. One such property is Southern Springs RV Resort in Ocala. This RV high-end RV resort offers RV sites equipped with state-of-the-art amenities including 150-amp electric, high-speed internet, and cable TV hookups.
Among the proposed facilities for That Dream RV Resort are a 228-unit RV park, dedicated areas for RV and boat storage, and a clubhouse complete with a swimming pool, bathhouse, and laundry facilities. Further enhancing the resort’s appeal will be a general store, a small dog park, and a community center available for public event rentals.
The recent approval of Follow That Dream RV Resort can provide a new model for the campground and RV park, having luxurious amenities and thematic charm by drawing inspiration from iconic people like Elvis Presley.
This development is not the first for Southern Springs Inc., which boasts a portfolio of RV resorts in Ocala, Chiefland, and Williston. The proposal is near the unique tourist spots in the area, including Springs State Park, Indian Lake State Forest, and numerous world-class horse farms and equestrian facilities.
