Disney Vacation Club celebrated the opening of the first phase of new cabins at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Nestled in the woodlands of Walt Disney World Resort, these cabins offer a blend of home comforts and outdoor experiences.
The opening event was held in Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, where Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club, and Lauren Gossett, general manager of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, marked the occasion.
“The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are nestled right in the heart of such a beloved resort and will be the perfect place for our Disney Vacation Club Members to create new vacation memories,” said Diercksen.
According to a press release, the new cabins will be rolled out in phases throughout the year, totaling over 350 units. These accommodations feature floor-to-ceiling windows, original artwork, and familiar Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Pluto, and Chip and Dale, providing a touch of Disney to the surroundings.
Each one-bedroom cabin comfortably sleeps up to six guests and includes a main bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living area, dining area, and outdoor patio. Dog-friendly cabins are also available for guests traveling with pets, ensuring that the entire family can enjoy the experience.
Sustainability is a key focus in the design and construction of these cabins. Through a collaboration with two Florida businesses, each cabin was produced with less than one percent metal waste and constructed in a way that preserved the natural beauty of the resort’s wilderness. Additionally, each cabin has an on-site electric vehicle charging station, supporting The Walt Disney Company’s environmental goals.
Guests staying at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort have access to various family-friendly recreation options, including equestrian trails, fishing, archery, poolside relaxation, and dining experiences.
Disney Vacation Club, which debuted in 1991, operates on a flexible, vacation points-based system rather than the traditional fixed-week timeshare model. It boasts over 250,000 member families from all 50 states and approximately 100 countries, who enjoy a range of vacation destinations.
