The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging all manufacturers of travel trailers to attend a virtual meeting on March 31 at 2 PM EST, to provide feedback on accessible designs for travel trailers.
According to a News & Insights report of the RV Industry Association (RVIA), the event will be hosted by the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS).
It is crucial to remember that the briefing is information only and not a solicitation, the announcement notes.
IBTS’ designers and engineers collaborated with FEMA for the last several months to create designs that comply with accessibility standards while aiming to create a warm, comfortable space for the occupants. The goal is to make the designs appealing for RV manufacturers to develop.
In the virtual briefing, the IBTS team will share the initial accessible designs and then seek feedback from travel trailer manufacturers via an online survey. This feedback will help identify any manufacturing concerns and will determine the extent to which the designs fulfill the criteria for creating accessible, livable spaces, comfortable, and offer a great opportunity for manufacturers of travel trailers.
The feedback from the RV industry is crucial in this endeavor since it will help determine the final layout and design for these trailers, the announcement ends.
