Winnebago Industries announced a strategic expansion of Don Clark’s responsibilities within the company. Clark, Grand Design RV’s president, will assume the role of group president, towable RVs, effective November 1.
In this new position, he will oversee both Grand Design RV and Winnebago Industries’ towable division, leveraging his extensive experience in the RV industry.
Michael Happe, president, and CEO of Winnebago Industries, expressed his confidence in Clark’s abilities, stating, “Don is a hall-of-famer with an unmatched track record of success and understanding of the RV industry, especially the towable RV market. Don’s insights, operational acumen, and extensive knowledge of what it takes to win in this space make him the ideal and logical choice to lead the team during their next evolution.”
According to a press release, this move aims to capitalize on Winnebago Industries’ expertise in Northern Indiana, a l hub for RV manufacturing. While Grand Design and Winnebago Industries’ towables division will continue to operate as separate, competing units, they will collaborate to enhance product quality and drive innovation.
Clark emphasized the potential benefits of this collaboration, noting that it could lead to the creation of premium outdoor products characterized by high quality, reliability, and innovative designs.
Additionally, Niles Whitehouse, Winnebago Industries’ vice president of sales and service, will serve as interim GM of the Winnebago towables business, reporting to Clark until a permanent leader is appointed.
This strategic decision aligns with Winnebago Industries’ broader goal of strengthening its market position and meeting the growing demand for towable RVs. Happe emphasized the importance of maximizing each business area’s potential, stating, “For Winnebago Industries to realize our ambition to be the trusted leader in premium outdoor recreation, each area of our business must be operating to its fullest potential.
