OHI has opened applications for its refreshed Awards of Excellence program, which will accept submissions through Friday, Sept. 12. The awards recognize innovation, leadership, and service within the campground, RV park, and outdoor hospitality sector.
This year’s program introduces updated award names, clearer categories, and a peer-judged process aimed at elevating recognition for outstanding contributions to the industry.
According to a LinkedIn update by OHI, the Awards of Excellence include five categories: Park Innovator of the Year, Supplier Innovator of the Year, Plan-It Green – Environmental Innovator, Outdoor Hospitality Industry Leadership, and Unity Through Generosity. Each category is designed to showcase achievements that advance outdoor hospitality in different ways.
The Park Innovator of the Year Award recognizes creative thinking across campground and RV park operations. The Supplier Innovator of the Year Award highlights businesses that provide products or services driving change within the sector.
Environmental efforts are the focus of the Plan-It Green – Environmental Innovator Award, which honors parks that go beyond traditional sustainability practices and create measurable impacts on conservation and resource management.
The Outdoor Hospitality Industry Leadership Award acknowledges individuals who strengthen the industry through guidance, advocacy, or organizational development. Meanwhile, the Unity Through Generosity Award highlights leaders who prioritize service to others and contribute to the broader outdoor hospitality community.
“The Awards of Excellence shine a light on innovation, the bold ideas and smart solutions shaping the future of outdoor hospitality,” OHI stated in its program announcement. “Big ideas. Clever solutions. Fresh thinking. If that sounds like you (or someone you know), it’s time to step into the spotlight.”
Applicants must submit a formal entry that will be reviewed by a panel of peers. The judging will focus on creative and innovative impacts on the industry, with eligibility extended to individual parks, corporate groups, suppliers, and industry leaders.
To support the program’s expansion, OHI has introduced a submission fee of $50 per entry, or $35 per application for parks with fewer than 250 sites.
The award program has been structured to ensure that winning projects and individuals receive visibility beyond the application cycle. OHI plans to highlight honorees through on-site celebrations, expanded media coverage, and what it calls “legacy storytelling” that documents their contributions to the industry.
