A company that has developed a pop-up camper for the Tesla Cybertruck claims to have already received $80 million in pre-orders, a report said.
CyberLandr is the name of the camper and it comes from the company Stream It. Stream It specializes primarily in artificial intelligence and programming, but it seems that Cybertruck reservation holders are interested in the accessory.
Lance King, chief executive of Stream It, said that the idea for the Cyberlandr was conceived while he was ordering his Cybertruck. He realized that no RV or camper could be used to match Tesla’s unique design. King believes that this is positive despite his company’s lack of experience with campers, King shared with Business Insider.
King also stated that Tesla wouldn’t have been able “to reinvent the car” if they had been in the automobile business. “Just being in that industry changes your field of view. To create something truly unique, it was important not to be in the RV industry.”
According to the report, King claims that the Cyberlandr received 1,000 orders in its first month of existence. This is a huge number, especially considering that the camper costs $50,000 more than the Cybertruck’s starting price.
Stream It relied heavily upon its software expertise in the design of Cyberlandr. This includes voice-controlled lighting, a water faucet, and temperature controls. The main living area can also be transformed from a kitchen to an office or bedroom, there is also a 32-inch TV, the report added.
You will also find heated floors, a small bathroom that has a sink, toilet, and smart glass that dims.
Powering the camper’s accessories will be the Cybertruck’s own battery pack and 500-watt solar panels. The 1,200-lb camper will reduce the truck’s range by about 5 percent, according to Stream It.
While Tesla recently delayed the Cybertruck until next year, Steam It is pushing forward with the development of the Cyberlandr, the report said.
