Connecticut Glamping Site Combines Mustang Sanctuary with Outdoor Hospitality

Wild Ride, a glamping retreat located in Sterling, Connecticut, is combining outdoor hospitality with wildlife conservation through its unique mustang sanctuary experience.

Set on 150 acres, the property offers four campsites where visitors can stay in a variety of accommodations ranging from rustic domes to more upscale glamping units.

The sanctuary has become known for offering guests the opportunity to hike alongside a herd of formerly wild mustangs, an activity designed to foster a closer connection with nature while raising awareness of mustang preservation.

Hipcamp, an online booking platform, has listed Wild Ride among the “best places to camp in America.”

Wild Ride’s mission centers on supporting American mustangs, with 100 percent of net proceeds directed to a nonprofit focused on training, adoption, and long-term protection of the animals.

In addition to mustang encounters, the property offers a variety of activities, including five miles of hiking trails, off-road safari tours, yoga, and seasonal blueberry and huckleberry picking during July and August.

Accommodation pricing begins at $102 per night for The Bunk Dome, which includes showers, a toilet, a campfire space, and a picnic table. This dome sleeps up to six guests, with the per-person cost averaging $17 a night.

More basic dome accommodations, such as The Terrasphere, are also available and are pet-friendly, according to Boston Uncovered.

For travelers seeking a more traditional glamping experience, Wild Ride offers domes with furnished interiors, including beds and couches. These units start at $172 per night and accommodate between three and five people.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, Wild Ride highlights how campsites can merge immersive guest experiences with broader conservation goals.

By integrating unique activities, diversified accommodations, and a cause-driven mission, operators can differentiate their offerings in a competitive marketplace.

Wild Ride also illustrates how leveraging third-party platforms such as Hipcamp can expand reach and visibility while aligning with a growing consumer demand for both sustainability and authentic nature-based stays.

Reservations for Wild Ride can be made through Hipcamp.
