The RV industry gathered in Washington, D.C., this week for RVs Move America Week, where key figures in politics and media addressed attendees on issues shaping the sector.
House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) and CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings were among the featured speakers during Tuesday’s lunch session, sponsored by Winnebago Industries.
Rep. Smith participated in a Q&A moderated by RV Industry Association (RVIA) Vice President of Government Affairs Jason Rano and Winnebago Industries Vice President of Government and Industry Relations Chad Reece. The discussion centered on tax policy, trade priorities, and Smith’s evolving role in Congress.
“On the heels of his leading role in passing the tax reconciliation package through the House it was wonderful to have Chairman Smith join us and talk through the latest on tax and trade and the priorities for the House Ways and Means Committee,” Rano said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on June 3.
Jennings also followed with a keynote address highlighting his political background and insights into current U.S. political dynamics.
Known for his commentary on CNN, Jennings drew from years of experience advising Republican leaders and participating in four presidential campaigns.
During his remarks, Jennings discussed his personal connection to the outdoors and reflected on the shifting demographics within the Republican party.
He also addressed the importance of understanding national political trends and their implications for industry stakeholders.
