Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) will be increasing its single-day vehicle entry pass and camping fees.
According to a report, the park’s single-day vehicle entry pass will increase from $25 to $30 starting May 27.
Park officials said the increase is needed to finance new projects and ongoing park maintenance.
The winter campground fees will increase from $20 to $30 per night beginning October 12.
Summer campground fees will also increase from $30 to $35 in 2023.
According to a park news release, basic operations at the park are financed through federal appropriations, but entrance fees help fund new initiatives and maintenance.
Park officials sought public comments on the price hikes last fall.
“Most commenters expressed support for the proposed changes,” according to the release, “often highlighting the importance of funding for park maintenance, operation, and resource protection.”
According to the release, the projects funded by entry fees cover hazard tree mitigation, trail repairs and improvements, wilderness campsite improvements, bear management, and the restoration of historic rock walls along Trail Ridge Road.
