Colorado’s San Juan Mountains are home to one of the country’s most luxurious glamping escapes, and it’s not winding down for the season just yet.
Dunton River Camp, located near Telluride, has been named one of the nine most lavish glamping sites in the United States by RV Trader.
According to an article by Coloradoan, the camp features eight well-appointed tents along the Dolores River, where guests can enjoy both luxury and wilderness in equal measure.
“With fly-fishing, hiking, and horseback riding right outside your tent flap, it’s the perfect blend of wilderness and indulgence,” the article says.
Once a working cattle ranch in the 19th century, the property has been reimagined to include king-size beds, gas stoves, oversized soaking tubs, and private decks.
Guests are treated to an all-inclusive experience that also features “farm-to-table” meals and carefully selected fine wines.
Although the camp is typically reserved for adults, it offers limited family-friendly weeks during the summer months.
Dunton River Camp operates from June through the early fall, but as of Sept. 23, reservations were still available into mid-October, extending the opportunity for travelers to enjoy an upscale late-season camping experience.
Other featured sites in the list include Under Canvas in Moab, Utah; AutoCamp at Yosemite, California; Collective Retreats on Governors Island, New York; Ventana Big Sur in California; The Resort at Paws Up and The Ranch at Rock Creek in Montana; Firelight Camps in Ithaca, New York; and El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas.
