Clockwork Architecture + Design has announced a new joint venture with Bernard Architects, forming a strategic partnership aimed at expanding their capabilities in outdoor hospitality design and development.
The collaboration, made public on July 23, brings together two design firms with extensive experience in the sector and a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Kevin Bernard, founder of Bernard Architects, brings more than 25 years of experience in architecture, project management, and design leadership.
His past work with organizations such as Charles Schwab and outdoor hospitality brand AutoCamp highlights a portfolio focused on integrating design with guest experience.
Bernard led key projects at AutoCamp locations in Zion, Moab, Joshua Tree, and the Catskills, helping to define a new standard for immersive outdoor accommodations.
Clockwork, which has been operating for seven years, has completed more than 30 projects across the United States.
The firm combines architecture, interior design, product development, and brand strategy under one umbrella, positioning itself as a full-service design partner for boutique camping resorts and large-scale hospitality destinations.
According to a press release, the two firms describe the venture as a convergence of shared values. “This joint venture represents a fusion of shared values and complementary expertise,” said Kevin Bernard.
“By combining Bernard Architects’ passion for sustainable and contextually responsive design with Clockwork’s multidisciplinary approach and commitment to social impact, we are poised to deliver projects that not only meet but exceed our clients’ aspirations.”
Both firms emphasize sustainability as a core part of their design philosophy. Clockwork’s one-for-one initiative, which funds a water well in sub-Saharan Africa for every project it completes, is one example of how the firm integrates social responsibility into its operations.
Bernard Architects, likewise, focuses on reducing environmental impact and conserving natural resources through every phase of project development.
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, this partnership may present opportunities for innovative and socially responsible design solutions.
The collaboration signals a move toward more integrated project delivery that aligns operational functionality with evolving guest expectations for immersive and sustainable outdoor experiences.
Looking ahead, the firms plan to pursue a diverse set of projects, including boutique hospitality spaces and multifamily residential developments.
The joint venture intends to combine Clockwork’s multidisciplinary infrastructure with Bernard Architects’ design legacy to meet a broad range of client goals in both new and established markets.
